Justin James was drafted in the second round with the 40th overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. The rookie out of Wyoming spent most of his time with Sacramento, but also made two trips to the G League Stockton Kings. James appeared in 34 games at the NBA level for Sacramento and three games for Stockton. James saw minutes for Sacramento in eight straight games from Nov. 19 to Dec. 4, averaging 4.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 16.1 minutes per game during that span. The second-round selection reached a career-high 14 points two different times. On Nov. 22, James posted 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 33 minutes of run at Brooklyn. Eight nights later, James tallied a career-high seven rebounds, plus two steals, during a win over Denver on Nov. 30. On Dec. 20 against Indiana, the rookie tallied 14 points, three boards, two dimes and block over 24 minutes of play. In three G League appearances for Stockton, James averaged 15.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 blocks. On Jan. 11 during a G League win over Iowa, James exploded for 30 points, five rebounds, two dimes, three blocks, three treys and one steal.
