Saben Lee

Saben Anthonia Lee was born June 23, 1999 to parents Anthonia "Amp" Lee and Natalie Williams. He has one brother, Aubry. Like most Division 1-caliber talent, Lee saw plenty of success at the high school level while attending Corona del Sol in Tempe, Arizona. He was voted first-team All-State his junior and senior seasons, averaging 22 points, five rebounds, four assists, three blocks and three steals in the latter. Lee ultimately elected to attend Vanderbilt despite interest from Louisville, Stanford, Florida State and Nebraska. While there, he majored majored in Human and Organizational Development. Lee was a full-time contributor from the moment he set foot in Vanderbilt, as a meniscus injury to then-starting point guard Darius Garland forced him to take the reins earlier than expected. He ended up averaging 10.6 points and 3.1 assists his freshman year, appearing in 32 games (29 starts). His upward trajectory continued into his sophomore year, where he put up 12.7 points, 3.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds in another year as full-time point guard. He played in and started all 32 games that season. Lee saw some competition his junior year in the form of Scotty Pippen junior that forced him to embrace more of an off-ball role at times. That didn't stop him from setting career-highs in scoring (18.6 ppg), assists (4.2 apg) and rebounds (3.5 rpg). Lee made second-team All-SEC in 2019-20 and was seventh in the conference in PER, sixth in offensive win shares and fourth in usage rate. He ultimately elected to capitalize on his most successful year and passed up on a senior season with the Commodores.
