Aminu Mohammed

Mohammed was born Dec. 15, 2001 in Lagos, Nigeria. He grew up there and moved to the United State at age 14 to attend Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington D.C. Mohammed's older brother, Kabir, played college basketball at San Jacinto College and Missouri State. He earned First Team All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference honors as a freshman but then transferred to Greenwood Laboratory School in Springfield, Missouri. As a sophomore, he led the team to its first Missouri Class 2 state title since 1942 behind 34.2 points and 17.5 rebounds, and he was named Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year. He averaged 34.8 points and 15.7 rebounds as a junior. As a senior, he was named Mr. Show-Me basketball and earned honors as McDonald's All-American and at the Jordan Brand Classic. His 2,709 points are the most in Springfield history. Mohammed was rated a five-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals and a four-star recruit by ESPN. His former high school coach, Shawn Harmon, became his legal guardian in 2015. Mohammed committed to play college ball at Georgetown. As a freshman at Georgetown in 2021-22, the guard started all 31 appearances and averaged 13.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals in 32.5 minutes. He was named to the Big East All-Rookie Team. Arguably his best performance was during a win over Syracuse, where Mohammed posted 23 points (7-14 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 8-9 FT), 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks in 37 minutes. At the 2022 NBA Draft Combine, he measured 6-foot-3.5 without shoes and weighed 213 pounds. He posted a 6-foot-11 wingspan and a 36-inch max vertical jump.
