B.J. Johnson

Robert "B.J." Johnson was born in 1995 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended high school in Philly at Lower Merion, the same place as former NBA superstar Kobe Bryant. In his senior year, Johnson led Lower Merion to a Pennsylvania Class AAAA state title after averaging 19.2 points in five playoff games. He had a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds in the state-title clinching game. Johnson started his college career at Syracuse but later transferred to La Salle, the alma mater of his father, Bob. While at La Salle, Johnson majored in finance. Check out Johnson on Twitter (bean_j20). Johnson spent his first two college seasons at Syracuse. He played just 55 minutes as a freshman. As a sophomore, he appeared in 24 contests (four starts), averaging 4.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per contest. After his sophomore campaign, he opted to transfer, forcing him to sit out the 2015-16 season. Johnson spent his junior and senior years at La Salle. As a junior, he averaged 17.6 points on 12.9 shots, and he also added 6.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 32.6 minutes. As a senior, he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team with averages of 20.8 points on 16.1 shots, while also adding 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 35.2 minutes per game. Johnson's collegiate career highs stood at 35 points, 23 rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocks. He went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft but signed with the Charlotte Hornets ahead of that year's NBA Summer League.
