Podziemski enjoyed a solid rookie year with the Warriors, averaging 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, but more importantly, he started 28 games (out of 74 appearances) and logged a solid 26.6 minutes per game. Things are on the upside trajectory for Podziemski, as the Warriors parted ways with Klay Thompson in the offseason, so the second-year guard is likely to open the season as the starting shooting guard while Buddy Hield comes off the bench. Scoring aside, Podziemski has already proven himself to be one of the best rebounding guards in the NBA, trailing only Luka Doncic, Josh Hart and Josh Giddey in the category last season. The uptick in minutes and more significant role should translate to Podziemski averaging double-digit points for the first time in his career, especially if he's able to maintain the same efficiency levels he showed as a rookie -- he shot 45.4 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point range. Maintaining efficiency while experiencing an uptick in volume will be vital to preserving his fantasy upside. Still, unless Podziemski suffers a massive regression, he's primed to be a solid -- if not better -- fantasy asset in all categories as Stephen Curry's teammate in the Warriors' backcourt. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Brandin Podziemski has rapidly emerged as a top-60 prospect after averaging just 4.1 minutes per game across 16 contests with Illinois as a freshman. Transferring to Santa Clara led to serious scoring and impressive accolades for Podziemski. Donned the WCC co-Player of the Year, Podziemski averaged 19.9 points on 48/44/77 percent shooting. He's also an elite rebounder for a guard, racking up 8.8 rebounds per game to go along with 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals. Podziemski is a versatile contributor, but the selling point is a smooth stroke from beyond the arc, though his relatively short wingspan will make it tougher to get his shot off in the NBA. Santa Clara has been a reliable NBA pipeline of late, with Jalen Williams illustrating that Podziemski's big numbers aren't just fluff. His shooting is impressive, and he finished with 10 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in his scrimmage at the Combine. Being small in size and stature is a concern for Podziemski, who has demonstrated a knack for initiating contact (4.5 FTA/g). Drawing fouls and canning threes is a good recipe for success if the former can translate. Some combination of rebounding prowess, reliable passing and tolerable defense will also need to translate. That said, Podziemski's shooting sets him up as a bench scorer and sparkplug. A role of 10-15 minutes per night is realistically Podziemski's usage in year one. His rebounding skills are very Josh Hart-esque. Damion Lee comes to mind as another comparison.
Pops for 26 in Game 4 win
GGolden State Warriors
April 29, 2025
Podziemski recorded 26 points (9-18 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 40 minutes during Monday's 109-106 win over the Rockets in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
ANALYSIS Jimmy Butler led the Warriors in scoring with 27 points, but Podziemski nearly matched him in the best performance of his brief playoff career. The second-year guard failed to score a point at all over 14 minutes in Game 2, however, so Monday's effort, while impressive, isn't necessarily a sign of better things to come. Podziemski will try to stay productive in Game 5 on Wednesday as the Warriors look to advance to the second round.

Butler addition helping him
GGolden State Warriors
April 30, 2025
Warriors coach Steve Kerr noted how much the addition of Jimmy Butler has helped Podziemski's game, Sam Amick of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS "The thing with Brandin, we know he's at his best when he's a secondary playmaker, playing off the weak side and running through the catch, creating shots in the paint for himself and others," Kerr said. "Once we got Jimmy, we were running a lot of offense through Jimmy, and that allowed Brandin to play on the other side. I think he's at his best when he can do that." Although he hasn't shot the ball well, Podziemski's counting stats are up in the postseason with averages of 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.5 three-pointers in 30.5 minutes per game.
