Shumate signed a contract with the Pelicans before being waived Monday.
ANALYSIS
Shumate presumably signed an Exhibit 10 deal with New Orleans, meaning the organization now owns his G League rights. He figures to return to the club's G League affiliate, the Laketown Squadron (formerly the Birmingham Squadron), for the 2026-27 campaign. Over 40 appearances for the Squadron last season, the 24-year-old forward averaged 11.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 combined steals-plus-blocks in 26.8 minutes per contest.
