Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
DaQuan Marquel Jeffries was born on August 30, 1997 in Edmond, Oklahoma. The son of Edward Johnson and Sharonda Jeffries, DaQuan was a four-year letterwinner at Santa Fe High School in Edmond. In 2015, he earned Oklahoma Class 6A All-State honors and was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference. Jeffries helped lead Santa Fe to a runner-up finish at the 2015 Oklahoma State Tournament. Jeffries lists Kawhi Leonard as his favorite NBA player, and Leonard is the reason he wore No. 2 while playing collegiately at Tulsa University. Follow DaQuan on Twitter and Instagram @daquanjeffries2. Jeffries played collegiate hoops for two seasons (2017-19) at the University of Tulsa. Before Tulsa, Jeffries played the 2015-16 season at Oral Roberts and then spent the 2016-17 season at Western Texas College, a community college in Snyder, Texas. At Oral Roberts, Jeffries appeared in 29 games (7 starts) and averaged 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds over 20.3 minutes per game. In 2016-17, Jeffries led Western Texas to a 22-10 record and averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game on his way to first-team All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference and All-Region V honors. During Jeffries first year at Tulsa, the 6-foot-5 wing posted numbers similar to his lone season at Oral Roberts. But he showed big improvement during his senior 2018-19 season. Jeffries started all 31 games as a senior and averaged 13.0 points, 5.6 boards and 1.5 three-pointers per game. He led Tulsa in points, defensive rebounds (4.3), field goal attempts (8.9), three-pointers, steals (1.0) and blocks (1.2) per game in his senior season. At the end of the season, Jeffries was named to the 2018-19 All-American Athletic Conference Third Team.
Productive off bench Saturday
FCharlotte Hornets
December 7, 2024
Jeffries ended Saturday's 116-102 loss to the Cavaliers with 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt), six rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes.
ANALYSIS Jeffries was tied for the second in the Hornets in scoring alongside Josh Green, and he made the most of his 25 minutes off the bench -- an uptick over the 16 minutes he saw in his season debut on Thursday against the Knicks. Jeffries should continue to see steady minutes off the bench as long as the Hornets remain depleted by injuries.
