Devon Dotson

Devon Dotson was born on August 2, 1999 to Dana and Angela Dotson. He has one brother, Dalen, and one sister, Ashylnn. Dotson grew up idolizing Derrick Rose and says he patterned his game after the former Bulls star. For high school, Dotson attended Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he teamed with future Tennessee and Boston Celtics star Grant Williams. As a high school senior, Dotson averaged 28.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists and helped lead Providence to the conference title. Dotson left Providence Day as their all-time leading scorer, totaling 2,607 points. A three-time All-State selection, Dotson was selected to the All-Conference team in all four of his high school years. He was a consensus five-star recruit and was selected to play in the 2018 McDonald's All-American Game. For college, Dotson attended Kansas from 2018-2020, before declaring himself eligible for the 2020 NBA Draft. Dotson enjoys playing ping pong and video games. Dotson won a contentious battle for the starting point guard role in his first of two seasons at Kansas in 2018-19, and he paid that decision off by starting all 36 games and posting 12.3 points, 3.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds. He took Kansas to the second round of the NCAA Tournament that season, picking up third-team all-conference honors and making the Big 12 All-Freshman team. In his sophomore year, Dotson took his game to a new level. It didn't take long for him to set a new career scoring high, as Dotson poured in 31 points Nov. 27 against Dayton while handing the school one of its only two losses on the year. Dotson continued on this track and finished as the team's leading scorer (18.1 PPG) while also leading the entire conference in steals (2.1 SPG). When it was all said and done, Dotson was given first-team All-Big 12 honors and even a nod on the consensus All-American second team.
