Jones spent four years at Weber State and ended his final season with averages of 20.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.1 triples in 37.0 minutes per contest while shooting 48.9 percent from the floor and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line over 31 appearances. The numbers are solid, but he's not expected to see steady minutes at either wing role since Luguentz Dort, Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe are all ahead of him in the depth chart for bench minutes. As such, Jones isn't an enticing target on draft day, although he might have some upside in dynasty formats due to his long-term upside. Read Past Outlooks
$Signed a two-year, $5.38 million contract with the Thunder in July of 2024. Contract includes $2.88 million team option for 2026-27.
Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Jones started in all but two contests during his final three years with the Wildcats. His numbers improved with each season, ultimately posting career-best figures in points (20.8), assists (5.2) and steals (2.0) per game during the 2023-24 campaign. Jones also led the Big Sky Conference in total points, defensive rebounds and assists per game in 2023-24, and he was named to the All-Big Sky 1st Team in his last two seasons. He was also named the 2023-24 Big Sky Player of the Year. There are questions regarding whether Jones will end up as a shooting guard or as a small forward at the next level, and there's a chance his physical development will lean him one way or the other. He possesses enough power, strength and tenacity to defend forwards at the next level, although he has also enough lateral quickness to handle smaller guards if needed. An area where he particularly thrives is rebounding as Jones is elite on the glass for his size. His 3-point shooting will likely be a swing skill because, even though he can be a double-double machine, his long-range shooting will determine whether he can be a regular starter or a situational rotation piece. Jones is an above-average passer, really smart and fluid off the ball on offense. He finishes plays with efficiency near the rim but has enough vision to create for others if needed. Weber projects as a shooting guard at the next level, though he won't be ready to start right away as a rookie, and he might need to be brought along slowly as he adjusts his game to the next level. He has the scoring ability and size to eventually make an impact as a role player in the NBA, but he could develop into a reliable starter if he develops a 3-point shot. He projects as a late first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

ANALYSIS There is still a lot of work to be done for Jones to establish himself as a key member of the team's rotation, and Almanza also notes that Jones will need to shoot with consistency from range in training camp and preseason. However, he should receive plenty of opportunities to show what he can do, and the Thunder are unlikely to rush Williams back into action before he's ready.
