Donta Hall

Hall was born Aug. 7, 1997 in Luverne, Alabama, where he attended Luverne High School. His basketball prowess was recognized early, as he played on the high school's junior varsity team in eight grade. As a junior, he led Luverne to the state basketball final after averaging a double-double with 11.7 points and 10.1 rebounds. As a senior, he was named the Class 2A Player of the Year after averaging a triple-double (22.6 points, 18.1 rebounds, 12.0 blocks). Hall become the first player from his high school to earn a Division 1 scholarship, and chose Alabama over the likes of UAB, Mississippi State and Troy. He went on to play four years there and majored in public health. Hall is the son of the late Donald Hall and Mary Hall, and has four brothers: Fred, Romethius, Demarquez and Dontavious. Hall was an impactful player on both ends of the floor in each of his four seasons at Alabama. He came off the bench in 33 games during his freshman season, started 20 his sophomore year and was a full-time starter after that. His best scoring year (10.6 PPG) came during his junior season, when he also led the SEC in field-goal percentage (72.6). Hall was named to the SEC All-Defense Team that year, a feat he accomplished once again in his senior season. Hall's rim-protecting ability was evident in each year of college ball, as he finished in the top 10 in the SEC in blocks per game for four consecutive seasons. He was not selected in the 2019 NBA Draft, but he signed a 10-day contract with the Pistons in February 2020.
