Despite a fantasy-friendly skillset, Jackson has yet to establish himself as a consistent asset, be it in fantasy or reality. After putting together two intriguing seasons, Jackson's role during the 2023-24 season was reduced, limiting him to just 13.3 minutes per game. He closed with per-game averages of 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks, resulting in him being a non-factor outside of deeper fantasy formats. On Paper, there is a chance he could be the primary backup behind Myles Turner this upcoming season, potentially landing him a meaningful role for the first time in his career. However, he will likely be competing with James Wiseman and even Obi Toppin, both of whom will also be looking to prove themselves. Given the uncertainty, Jackson does not warrant a draft pick in a standard league. Managers should simply keep an eye on his playing time over the first week or two, just in case he carves out a regular backup role. Read Past Outlooks

Jackson (undisclosed) will not participate in the Pacers' 5-on-5 scrimmage Sunday, Tony East of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS Jackson was a limited participant in practice Friday, and he remains a question mark ahead of the season due to an undisclosed injury. The 22-year-old is expected to serve as the backup center to Myles Turner, but an extended absence could open the door for James Wiseman (groin) to receive more minutes.

2021
Much like his rookie season, Jackson flashed some upside last year but was never able to establish a consistent role. He averaged just 16.5 minutes per night, tallying 7.2 points to go with 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. Prior to his sophomore season, there had been rumblings of a Myles Turner trade, a move that many had hoped would open the door for Jackson. Fast-forward 12 months, and Turner now appears to be a long-term piece for the Pacers, putting a pin in what Jackson might be able to do. His per-minute upside remains intriguing, something that should at least keep him on the fantasy radar. While he isn't worth drafting in most leagues, if he can secure an 18-minute role as the primary backup behind Turner, he could have some sporadic streaming value throughout the season. Should Turner miss any time at any point in the season, Jackson would become someone to snap up in a hurry.
Jackson's rookie campaign got off to a quiet start, as he spent much of the early part of the season in the G League and averaged less than five minutes per contest through his first 11 games with Indiana. His opportunity took a dramatic turn upward when Myles Turner suffered a season-ending foot injury in mid-January and when Domantas Sabonis was traded in early February. Over his final 24 NBA contests, Jackson put up per-game averages of 11.5 points, 5.5 boards, 0.7 three-pointers, 2.0 blocked shots and 1.0 steals in just over 20 minutes while shooting 57.4 percent from the field and 70.0 percent from the charity stripe. The blocks are particularly alluring, and the Kentucky product showed that he can have an impact on offense when given the opportunity. The Pacers are in rebuild mode, but they currently have a now-healthy Turner slated to start at center, not to mention Jalen Smith. Goga Bitadze figures to see a fair amount of backup minutes in what is shaping up to be a crowded frontcourt that also includes Oshae Brissett and Terry Taylor, so it's difficult to gauge exactly how much playing time will be allotted to Jackson. Much hinges on the long-anticipated but yet-to-happen trade of Turner, which would open up more opportunities for all of Indiana's young big men.
Jackson was the 22nd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He's shown plenty of raw potential and has been able to leverage his athleticism to become a prototypical big -- a shot-blocker, rebounder and lob finisher. While he's unpolished, that's nothing out of the ordinary for someone drafted post-lottery. For the Pacers, Jackson will compete for depth center minutes with Goga Bitadze, though Jackson could, in theory, play some power forward if the floor-spacing Myles Turner is in at center. Ultimately, he probably won't be a regular rotation player this season.

December 18, 2023
Jackson is averaging 12.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 blocks over his last six games.
ANALYSIS It was tough sledding for Jackson in the early stages of the 2023-24 campaign, as he averaged 4.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 12.7 minutes through his first 11 appearances of the season. However, he's had his number called more often of late, and he fared well in a spot start for Myles Turner, who was held out of Monday's game against the Clippers with a hamstring injury. Jackson has been especially impressive on the offensive end over his six-game hot stretch, knocking down 35 of 45 attempts from the field.
