Scores season-high 20 points
Sampson scored 20 points (9-13 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT) while adding three rebounds and an assist across 20 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Sampson had scored in double digits just three times all season long, but two of those games have come in his last two appearances. He's making the most of the uptick in playing time due to the injuries affecting the Pacers' roster. Sampson is not expected to be a major fantasy asset when some regulars return to action, though, so expecting double-digit scoring performances from him might not be a realistic expectation going forward.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
Sampson signed with the Nuggets after being waived by the 76ers midway through last season. He went on to start 22 contests with Denver, averaging 5.2 points and 2.3 assists in 18.0 minutes per game. While Sampson fared better in Denver than Philadelphia, he was still fairly unimpressive and finds himself on the fringe of the roster entering the preseason. The two-year deal Sampson signed in February is non-guaranteed for 2016-17, so the Nuggets can waive him without penalty, if they so choose. Sampson has more NBA experience than some of the other players he'll compete against in camp, but he's far from a guarantee to crack the final 15-man team.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Favorite to start at power forward?
Sampson may have an inside track to starting power forward duties while Domantas Sabonis (foot) remains out, Ethan Sears of the Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Sabonis reportedly left the Orlando bubble late in the week to receive treatment for plantar fasciitis, and Sears notes the star forward doesn't have any guarantee of returning this season or postseason. Coach Nate McMillan seemingly has a couple of different options to fill Sabonis' starting power forward spot at his disposal, with Sampson joining Doug McDermott as the two likeliest candidates to handle the role. Sampson notably drew the start in Thursday's scrimmage against the Trail Blazers, logging 22 minutes to McDermott's 17. Sampson has averaged just 13.1 minutes across 26 games for Indiana this season, but he averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.0 steal over a quick four-game sample with the Bulls in 2018-19 and is a solid shooter, albeit somewhat undersized for the four at 6-foot-7.
