Collins was released from his contract with Qingdao Double Star of the Chinese Basketball Association, NiuBBall.com reports.

ANALYSIS
Collins was signed by Qingdao Double Star at the end of October, but the team decided he wasn't the type of player they needed and cut him from the team. He played with the Trail Blazers for five games in the 2010-11 season, but the 32-year-old center has seen his role in the NBA reduced dramatically in the last few years. While a team might call on him to fill a veteran role at the end of the bench this year, it's unlikely he'd develop any sustainable fantasy value in anything but the deepest of leagues.

Collins has been with the Jazz and head coach Jerry Sloan for seven years now and the coach knows exactly what he’s getting from Collins. He’ll set the screens, hit the boards and won’t do too much with the ball in his hands. With Carlos Boozer healthy again and Mehmet Okur established at center, Collins has averaged just 10.6 minutes per game over the last two seasons.

Collins is an old-school center. He plays near the basket but has very limited offensive skills. He averaged just over two shots per game and does not get the minutes to help a fantasy roster.

With the acquisition of Greg Ostertag, Collins becomes just another spare part. The Jazz haven't really had much in the way of center play before acquiring Okur, so Collins has managed to eke out 20 minutes per game over his four-year career, but this season, don't expect more than 10 minutes per game from Collins. He's still just 26, so he could find more of a role with another team.

Collins suffered a severe knee injury last season and his status for training camp is in question. He will not play much of a role in 2003-04.
