Joffrey Lauvergne

The young Frenchman is entering his second season as a Nugget after signing with the team in the middle of last season. He'll look to improve on his rookie numbers, as he saw very little time on the court under ex-coach Melvin Hunt. Lauvergne averaged 11 minutes in 24 games played. In those games, he averaged 3.9 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 40 percent from the field. Lauvergne profiles as a stretch-four, but he made only 19 percent of his three-pointers on 16 attempts. Before coming to the NBA, Lauvergne played for Partizan of the Euroleague for the 2013-14 season and led the league in rebounding at 8.6 boards per game. This is yet another European project for the Nuggets, and while the upside is high, it remains to be seen what he can do at the NBA level. Lauvergne is yet another athletic freak with a wide skill set who will be competing for minutes on a team with a lot of similar talent. As a result, Lauvergne may end up getting lost in the rotation for the Nuggets, but with Jusuf Nurkic likely to be sidelined to begin the season, he could contend for the starting center role in the early going.
