J.P. Macura

J.P. Macura was born on June 5, 1995 in Lakeville, Minnesota. The son of Paul and Sue Ann Macura, J.P. attended Lakeville North High School, where he scored a school-record 1,811 career points. As a senior, Macura led Lakeville to the 4A MSHSL state title. That season, he posted averages of 32.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and scored a school-record 55 points in a single game. Macura committed to Xavier University over Iowa State and Butler. As a freshman at Xavier, Macura appeared in 35 games and made three starts. In 13.2 minutes, he averaged 5.4 points and 1.2 rebounds. His role grew as a sophomore, when he boosted his averages to 9.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal and was named the Big East Sixth Man of the Year. Macura moved into the starting lineup as a junior, starting all 38 games and posting a career-best 14.4 points per game, while adding 4.4 boards, 2.9 assists and 1.4 steals. Macura finished out his tenure at Xavier with a strong senior season, during which he shot 47.9 percent from the field, 37.7 percent from three and 82.1 percent at the line. Xavier qualified for the NCAA Tournament and won at least one NCAA Tournament game in all four of Macura's seasons at the school.
