Perovic announced his retirement from professional basketball Tuesday, Sportando reports.

ANALYSIS
Perovic appeared in seven games with the Warriors in the 2007-08 campaign, but has played the last several seasons overseas. The 31-year-old joined Serbian club Partizan Belgrade this summer, but failed to see the court while he remained limited by injury.

Perovic played sparingly last year and the acquisition of Turiaf should keep his minutes at a minimum again this year. There have been rumors that Perovic might try to jump back to the Euroleagues and play with Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Perovic was the Warriors second round pick in 2006 (#38 overall) and spent last year refining his game in Europe. Perovic, at 7-2, has been compared to Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas because of his size and ability to step out and shoot. He should start the season as the backup center and, barring an injury to Biedrins, probably won’t get enough minutes to warrant fantasy consideration.

Perovic is intelligent, has soft hands, has a nice jump shot and decent athleticism. He is very coordinated for a player his size. He plays with a passion that's rarely seen in big men. Strength is the biggest question mark. He doesn't have the bulk to play in the paint right now. His draft stock is very much in the air and can go anywhere between mid first round to mid second round.
