He was in competition for the final spot on the Grizzlies' roster, and he failed to prove he deserved a guaranteed deal. He could catch on elsewhere as a depth guy.

Jackson got a late-season tryout with the Raptors in ’06-’07 and produced a stunning 30 point effort in the regular season final against the 76ers, when the team was resting their main weapons prior to the playoffs. He’ll have an uphill battle in training camp just to stick on the roster, however, and will likely be a regular resident of the inactive list if he does.

The injury-plagued Jackson will be a non-factor, even if he manages to make the team. If he does, eight or nine mpg is probably pushing it, especially with the newly-drafted talent at guard ahead of him.

Jackson will be out until at least December after having back surgery this offseason. Once he is back on the active roster he will back up Larry Hughes at shooting guard and play some at small forward as well. Hughes plays almost 40 minutes a game, so don't look for much production when and if Jackson returns this season.

The coaching staff is intruiged with Jackson's athleticism and he proved to be a decent perimeter shooter in college, where he averaged 21.2 points for Oregon as a senior and shot 44 percent from 3-point range. The NBA is different game, though. There will be an adjustment period. He doesn't figure to start in his rookie season, but he should see some decent minutes off the bench at either shooting guard or small forward.

Nice mid-range game and is considered one of the more versatile players in the draft. Improved his three-point range. Excellent passer who sees the floor well. While versatile offensively scouts are concerned about who he would guard on the defensive end.
