McClung became an unrestricted free agent June 29 after the Bulls declined to tender him a qualifying offer, John Schuhmann of NBA.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old combo guard turned in another productive season in the G League in 2025-26, claiming league MVP honors for a second time while pacing the circuit in scoring with an average of 29.5 points per game over 40 appearances with the Windy City Bulls. Chicago signed McClung to a two-way deal in February, and he was productive on a per-minute basis at the NBA level with averages of 6.1 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 12.3 minutes across 11 appearances. While McClung has nothing left to prove in the G League, his lack of size and defensive limitations have prevented him from getting an extended look in the NBA over his first five seasons in the professional ranks. No longer two-way eligible heading into 2026-27 and still unsigned more than three weeks after hitting the open market, McClung may have to settle for a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal in free agency.
