Maxwell Lewis

Maxwell Lewis began his high school basketball career at Clark High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, before transferring to Somerset Academy and finally to AZ Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona. He gave up his senior year of high school basketball to train for the 2021 NBA draft but ultimately decided to go to college. The forward committed to Pepperdine as a four-star recruit, where he spent the last two seasons. In 2021-22, Maxwell was named to the WCC All-Freshman team and then to the 2022-23 All-WCC team in his sophomore year. Last season, he averaged 17.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 31.4 minutes across 31 games on 46.9 percent shooting from the field and 35.1 percent from three. Maxwell has also spent the offseason preparing for the 2023 NBA Draft by going through shooting drills with San Antonio Spurs guard Blake Wesley. Lewis combines outstanding length and impressive athleticism with fluid movement skills. He can create his own shot and has shown the ability to score at all three levels. The wing is also adept at leveraging his scoring gravity to generate open looks for his teammates around the basket or from the perimeter. Lewis's length allows him to bother opponents when he is the primary defender. Lewis' scoring potential should allow him to be a contributor off the bench early in his career with the ability to develop into a starter down the line. He possesses a similar skillset to Cam Reddish with his smooth jumper and ability to create space. Lewis can play as an off-ball guard or forward in today's NBA.
