McKinley Wright

McKinley Wright IV was born in Minneapolis in October of 1998. The point guard is the son of Mckinley Wright III and Yolanda Hitchcock. Wright attended Champlin Park High School from 2013 to 2017 and is the school's all-time leader in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals. Wright was named 2017 Mr. Minnesota Basketball as he averaged 23 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.8 assists and shot 62 percent from the field en route to a second-place finish in the Class 4A state tournament. Wright played college basketball at Colorado from 2017 to 2021 where he set numerous records including the program's mark for most career assists with 683. The point guard made an immediate impact as he was named to the 2017 Pac-12 Conference All-Freshman Team. He went on to receive All-Pac-12 First Team honors every year between his sophomore and senior seasons including 2020 Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honors as a junior. He was also named a 2021 Honorable Mention Associated Press All-American as he led the Buffaloes with 15.2 points, 5.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game in his senior season. Wright then chose to forgo his extra year of collegiate eligibility and declared for the 2021 NBA Draft.
