2024 Fantasy Outlook
Dieng entered the NBA as one of the youngest players in the league before the 2022-23 season and has been limited to just 72 regular-season appearances off the bench in his first two years in the league. He averaged a mere 4.0 points and 1.5 rebounds across 11.1 minutes per game in 2023-24. The Thunder have taken a massive leap in that frame, going from a rebuilding squad to a contender, so there shouldn't be many minutes available for Dieng. Even though he might have some upside as a long-term dynasty pick in deep formats, ultimately, he shouldn't see enough minutes off the bench for OKC to be considered a viable pick for the 2024-25 fantasy season, regardless of the format. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Dieng was born May 21, 2003 in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, France and grew up in Lot-et-Garonne, where his father, Ababacar, played basketball. At the youth level, Dieng played for Villeneuve Basket Club and JSA Bordeaux, and he attended INSEP in Paris, where he competed for its U18 team at the Next Generation Tournament. He represented France at the 2019 FIBA U16 European Championship in Italy, where he averaged 8.9 points, 3.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds as the team took home the silver medal. As a pro, Dieng began his career in 2018-19 with Centre Federal Du Basket-ball in the French NM1 league. The big man started his first games in 2019-20, when he averaged 10.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals in 25.4 minutes. In 2020-21, he averaged 12.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 29.3 minutes. For the 2021-22 season, he signed with the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian NBL. There, Dieng averaged 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 20.8 minutes. To prepare for the 2022 NBA Draft, he left the Breakers in April of 2022. He was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks but was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

November 24, 2024
The Thunder announced Monday that Dieng sustained a right ring finger fracture and will be re-evaluated in 3-to-4 weeks, Andrew Schlecht of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Dieng suffered the injury Saturday while playing for the G League's Oklahoma City Blue. His absence likely won't have much of an impact on the Thunder's rotation, as he's averaged just 9.6 minutes per game over his last 11 appearances at the NBA level.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Dieng failed to reach any great heights during his rookie season, logging 14.6 minutes per night across 39 games played. He barely finished inside the top 400 in nine-category leagues, averaging 4.9 points and 2.7 rebounds. Despite limited opportunities, Dieng did flash a small amount of upside, enough to at least keep managers interested heading into his sophomore campaign. The Thunder have built a tremendous young roster and are likely to push for the playoffs this season. Where Dieng fits in their short-term plans remains to be seen. He is only 20 years of age, meaning he certainly matches up with their timeline. He should see a larger role than last year, although he is unlikely to see enough court time to warrant attention outside of deeper formats.
Dieng spent last season with the New Zealand Breakers of the NBL Australia, where he posted 8.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.9 combined steals/blocks in 20.3 minutes per game. He'll join a developing Thunder roster that continues to stockpile young talent. At some point, the Thunder will shift toward attempting to contend, but given the age of its core, OKC will likely be headed for another rebuilding season in 2022-23. With that in mind, Dieng should be able to carve out some opportunities off the bench, but he's ultimately viewed as a developmental prospect.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May draw interest
FOklahoma City Thunder
December 4, 2024
Dieng could draw interest from around the league ahead of the trade deadline, Michael Scotto of Hoopshype reports.
ANALYSIS
Now in his third NBA season, the 21-year-old Dieng has shown flashes of upside, but he hasn't been able to carve out a consistent role with the Thunder eyeing a deep playoff run. He's played 16 regular-season games so far but is seeing just 11.6 minutes per night. He's still very raw, and he's a career 27.5 percent shooter from beyond the arc. If the Thunder look to upgrade their roster, Dieng could interest some rebuilding teams.
