Perry Ellis

Signed to a non-guaranteed contract in August, Ellis will attempt to make the Hornets roster out of training camp. Despite a stellar four-year career at Kansas, Ellis went undrafted in 2016 prior to joining the Mavericks' summer league team, for whom he averaged 5.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. While Ellis is a polished scorer in the paint, he's undersized for the NBA level and isn't a remarkable athlete. That didn't stop him from averaging a team-high 16.9 points per game as a senior, but the jump in competition level could prove to be an issue. Ellis underwent surgery in late August to address a sports hernia but is expected to be available at full capacity for the start of camp.
