2025 Fantasy Outlook
A rookie second-round pick, Kalkbrenner has a clear path to playing time as a rookie. The only other centers in Charlotte are Moussa Diabate and Mason Plumlee. Grant Williams, Miles Bridges and Tidjane Salaun could also see playing time as small-ball fives throughout the campaign. Kalkbrenner spent five years at Creighton and kept improving, finishing his career with averages of 19.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game in 2024-25. He made 34.4 percent of his 1.7 three-point attempts per game and could be a unique 3-and-D piece for Charlotte, helping space the floor for LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges and Kon Knueppel. Kalkbrenner isn't guaranteed a role and will have to earn every minute, but he's in an ideal spot for fantasy purposes. He could deliver top-200 value if he capitalizes on the opportunity in front of him. Read Past Outlooks

Posts near double-double in SL win
Kalkbrenner recorded 15 points (5-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds, one steal and a block during Sunday's 83-78 Summer League championship win.
ANALYSIS
Kalkbrenner put together a strong performance in the Summer League championship game Sunday, tying for a team-high in rebounds and being one of five Hornets players to score in double figures. Kalkbrenner was also valuable on the defensive end, not only recording a steal and a block but also providing flexibility in matchups and guarding the Kings' point guard at times. His defensive ability could give him a path to playing time during the upcoming season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Lee talks him up
Hornets coach Charles Lee believes Kalkbrenner can morph into a player similar to Brook Lopez, Roderick Boone of the Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Considering Lopez has been one of the most versatile centers in the NBA for more than a decade, this is high praise from Lee. It's been previously reported by Boone that Mason Plumlee could open the season as the starting center, but it's likely that the Hornets turn the position over to the rookie at some point this season. With his obvious shot-blocking upside, Kalkbrenner could have plenty of fantasy appeal even in a reserve role.
