Sir'Dominic Pointer

Pointer can take some solace in the fact that the Cavaliers kept last year's second round pick, Joe Harris, around for the entire 2014-15 season. Pointer was drafted with the 21st pick of the second round in the 2015 draft after a burgeoning career at St. John's. He spent the first three seasons as a member of the Red Storm as a defensive specialist, but showed some offensive chops as a senior. After providing 6.9 points or fewer in his first three seasons, the 6-6 swingman averaged 13.7 points to go along with 7.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He had eight double-doubles and scored at least 20 points in seven contests. Pointer continued to be a defensive hound with 1.9 steals and 2.4 blocks. He was just 2-of-25 on three-pointers (eight percent), but the fact that he became a scorer at all indicates that he can grow. Pointer will not see much time with the Cavaliers as a rookie, but he will get a chance to learn in the NBDL with the Canton Charge. He has excellent defensive instincts. If his offensive game can come along, Pointer could have a decent NBA career.
