Terrence Williams

There was speculation coming out of the draft that Williams, though not a prolific scorer, offered such ball-handling abilities and court vision as to function as a point forward in the Lamar Odom mold. But through February, Williams failed to average more than 2.2 assists per game in any given month. Granted, he was rarely playing more than 15 minutes per game on the worst team in the NBA. But over the last 22 games of the season, Williams averaged 31.2 minutes, 14.1 points, and an excellent 6.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. The 0.5 steals are underwhelming, and one should not expect him to become an outside threat this season. But his impressive final six weeks suggests that Williams has significant upside.

There seems to be strange buzz surrounding the 11th overall pick in this year's NBA draft. Williams is definitely raw, athletic, versatile, and has a freaky-good skill set. It's rare to find a player with Williams' tweener height (6-6) who can dish (5.0 assists), be a lockdown defender (2.3 steals), yet also rebound at such a high rate (8.6 rebounds). It remains to be seen if his all-around skills translate to the NBA game, but with the lottery-bound Nets already rail thin at small forward, it looks as if Williams will get his chance to shine fairly early out of the gate.
