Caesars Sportsbook New York offers a robust variety of sports betting options, both in terms of what you can bet on and how you can bet. Below is a rundown of some common types of sports bets with examples.
Moneyline
Moneyline bets are simply picking a winner. These bets can be placed pregame or during a game with live betting. A moneyline bet is different from a spread bet, in which you wager on a team plus or minus the amount of points by which it is favored. You can place a moneyline bet on NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL or any other sport from around the world.
Parlay
A parlay is a bet consisting of multiple legs and can be placed on the same sport or span multiple sports. For example, if the Brooklyn Nets are -275 favorites and the New York Yankees are -350 favorites in their respective games, you can parlay both teams into one bet with -133 odds. Keep in mind that the parlay will lose if a single leg loses. Same Game Parlays are a popular feature at Caesars New York and consist of multiple bets from within one game, such as a Yankees win, Aaron Judge to get at least one hit and more than 5.5 total runs to be scored in the MLB game that day.
Teaser
A teaser is a parlay on spreads or point totals in which the numbers are shifted in your favor. For example, let's say the New York Giants are 6.5-point underdogs against the Rams and the New York Jets are 1-point underdogs versus the Dolphins. Football teasers usually shift by six points, so the original Giants +6.5 vs. Los Angeles and Jets +1 at Miami lines become Giants +12.5 and Jets +7. Those new lines are seemingly easier to cover, but your potential payout will be substantially lower than if you had simply parlayed the two New York football teams at their original spreads.
Total
Instead of picking a winner, you can also bet on how many points will be scored in a game. This is called a total or an over/under. For example, if a Nets vs. Knicks game is set at over/under 210.5 points, you can bet on that total. A 115-107 Knicks victory would be over 210.5, as the two teams scored a combined 222 points in this hypothetical scenario. On the other hand, a 105-103 Nets victory would add up to just 208 points, so a bet on the under would win. Both the over and under usually have -110 odds so you need to wager $110 to win $100.
Prop Bets
Prop bets are wagers on a different aspect of a game other than the direct outcome or final score. Whether RJ Barrett will score at least 20 points in a Knicks' game is an example of a prop bet. The total on that prop bet would be set at 19.5 points with -110 odds on the over as well as the under. Same Game Parlays often include prop bets as well.
Futures
A futures bet is a sports bet placed on a future outcome, often regarding a league's championship. Futures bets available on the New York Yankees and New York Mets include World Series odds, division title odds, and many MLB awards markets.
Round Robins
Round robins are a series of smaller parlays made from a larger pool of bets. If you think the Giants, Jets, Yankees and Mets will all win their next game but don't want to have one incorrect bet ruin a parlay, you can opt for a round robin instead. A four-team pool can be bet on with either six two-team wagers or four three-team wagers in a round robin. After populating a bet slip at Caesars New York, simply scroll down in the bet slip to find Round Robins, which are located below parlays and straight bets.
