Is sports betting legal in Maine?
Last Updated: May 8, 2023
Fact Checked By: Anthony Cervino
Maine is on the verge of allowing top sports betting sites to legally operate. While Governor Mills signed a sports betting bill into law in May 2022 to authorize in-person betting at retail casinos and off-track betting facilities, online sportsbooks have yet to go live in the Pine Tree State.
Legal online sports betting in Maine may not launch until 2024, which means it is never too early to be on the lookout for exclusive betting promos.
In addition to sports betting and casinos being fairly new in the state, Daily Fantasy Sports and horse racing betting are both regulated. Fantasy sports have never been an issue in Maine and were officially regulated in 2017 with fairly generic laws that include the minimum age to play being 18 years old.
