ANALYSISReed entered the final round with a three-shot lead after carding 67-68 over the first two days of the tournament. That lead quickly evaporated after going three-over in the front nine that included five bogeys, but he managed to make clutch up-and-downs to stick around at the top of the table. With the field struggling at Maridoe Golf Club on Sunday -- including
Tyrrell Hatton,
Harold Varner III and
Tom McKibbin, all of whom sat at the top of the leaderboard at some point in the final round -- Reed managed to sneak into the playoff, and he was the only player out of the four to sink a birdie on the par-4 18th to seal the first LIV Golf victory of his career and the first pro victory in his home state of Texas. Reed's win earned him 40 points and vaulted him past
Sergio Garcia into fourth in the LIV Golf individual season standings with 81.08 points. Reed will participate in the BMW International Open in Munich, Germany this week before heading to Spain for LIV Golf Andalucia starting July 11. He finished T4 on the challenging Valderrama course in 2024.
