Scheffler fired a five-under 65 on Sunday to finish in a share of sixth place at the Travelers Championship.
ANALYSISScheffler had a nice showing on Sunday, but really he lost this tournament with his third-round performance. He started the round with a triple-bogey and then added a double-bogey later on the front-nine. Scheffler made some birdies coming home, but Saturday was a day to score and he got lapped by the likes of
Tommy Fleetwood,
Russell Henley and
Keegan Bradley. It's certainly not something you expect to see from someone so strong across the board like Scheffler, who was seeking to go back-to-back at the Travelers. Nevertheless, it was still the ninth straight top-10 finish for the top player in the world. He will take some time off before trying to refocus and take home the final major of the year at the Open Championship.
