Faedo (shoulder) struck out two and allowed two hits and no walks over two scoreless innings in a rehab appearance Friday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
Analysis
Faedo has been on the shelf all season due to right shoulder inflammation, and after experiencing a setback in May that resulted in him being shut down from throwing, the right-hander was cleared to resume ramping up again a few weeks ago. The 29-year-old has now reached the final phase of his recovery by pitching in games, but he'll likely require several rehab appearances at multiple minor-league levels before the Rays bring him back from the 60-day injured list. Faedo will likely handle a middle-relief role out of the Tampa Bay bullpen once he's activated.
