It's not a surprise that Keys passed through waivers unclaimed, as he's hit just .238 with all of three extra-base hits (no homers) in 40 games with Jacksonville so far this season. He is a rather patient batter, however, with more walks (188) than strikeouts (158) in his minor league career, but it seems the Marlins view him as little more than organizational depth.
