Brickhouse was named the South Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 6-12 after tossing 6.2 shutout innings with a 9:2 K:BB in his only start of the week for Low-A Lexington. "Brickhouse is off to a very good start and gaining confidence daily," assistant general manager J.J. Picollo told the Kansas City Star
. "It's good for his confidence to be recognized by the league and gives him something to build on."
Brickhouse actually followed up the announcement with five innings of one-run ball on Monday and is looking a lot more comfortable on the mound this season. After struggling in the Midwest League for Low-A Kane County last year, Brickhouse has posted a 2.33 ERA with a 34:9 K:BB over 38.2 innings (seven starts) and could get a look at Double-A later on in the year should he continue to perform this well.
