Signs with Dodgers
PLos Angeles Dodgers
August 22, 2016
Johnson signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on Tuesday and will be assigned to Double-A Tulsa, Michael Rand of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Johnson, who has played 10 major league seasons with six different teams as a first baseman, has reinvented himself as a knuckleball pitcher. The 36-year-old posted a 4-3 record with a 4.50 ERA for an independent team in Minnesota this summer and says he could still be versatile as a pinch hitter. Despite the remarkable achievement, a late call-up seems unlikely at this point.
