Kandilas went 3-for-6 with a double, a home run, three RBI and a run scored against High-A Visalia on Tuesday.
The 22-year old native of Sydney, Australia has actually been around for longer than his age would normally dictate. He was signed by the Rockies as a minor league free agent back in 2008 and has since bounced between the Low-A minor leagues and the Australian Baseball League. He's shown a little bit of improvement here and there, but has only displayed slight power and moderate speed on the bases. He's batting just .263 in his first year at High-A Modesto and is struggling with strikeouts more than he has in the past. Without marked improvement over the last four-plus seasons, it's difficult to imagine him advancing much farther in the system.
