Howard wasn't assigned to a minor league affiliate out of spring training after posting a 7.90 ERA and 2.02 WHIP over 41 innings at rookie ball last season, and now looks like he won't pitch anywhere in 2013 with the suspension making him eligible for a large chunk of the remaining minor league schedule. The soon-to-be 21-year-old likely will focus his efforts on coming back strong in 2014.
