Manager Kevin Cash said Friday that Uceta recently suffered a setback and received a platelet-rich plasma injection to address his right shoulder injury,
Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis
Uceta will be temporarily shut down from activity wait for the injection to take effect before ramping back up, according to Cash. The 28-year-old has been on the injured list all season due to what the Rays initially termed as a right shoulder impingement before relabeling the injury as a subscapularis strain upon further evaluation. Uceta went 10-3 across 70 appearances out of the Tampa Bay bullpen last season, logging a 3.79 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 103:27 K:BB in 76 innings.
