Wakui has elected to become a free agent and could sign with another NPB team, the Kyodo news service
reports. He was 5-7 with seven saves with a 3.90 ERA and 79:29 BB:K ration in 92.1 innings last season.
Wakui was the Lions' top starter and then moved to the bullpen where he thrived as a closer. He's just 27-years old and won't be eligible for international free agency until 2015. It once looked like he may a pitching star who could move to MLB, but his career appears to be on the decline.
