Analysis
Canterino was released by the organization Tuesday, but he quickly agreed to a new deal with the franchise that drafted him in the second round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft. The right-hander hasn't pitched in game since 2022 while dealing with shoulder problems, but he has displayed a high ceiling as potential reliever when healthy, and it's a low-risk move for Minnesota to bring him back on a minor-league deal. He had shoulder surgery on March 16 and will miss the remainder of the season, though Canterino could be ready to pitch by spring training.
