Morla went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored against High-A Inland Empire on Thursday.
Morla was once a prized prospect for the Mariners as he was playing third base regularly and expected to hit for solid power. But he's been slow to develop and his plate discipline has long been an issue. He's off to a strong start this year, batting .313 with nine home runs through just 163 at-bats and has the potential to put up career-high numbers if he stays on a similar pace the rest of the way. Unfortunately, he continues to strike out at almost a 25-percent rate, and he hasn't even tested himself against pitchers above High-A.
