Santana, the Astros' pick from December's Rule 5 draft, has been released by the club, the Houston Chronicle
Santana was once a big-time international prospect from the Dominican Republic in the Yankees organization. He was held out of the 2013 season due to an ankle injury. In 13 games this season with the Astros' Single-A affiliate, Santana batted .125 with eight strikeouts in only 40 at-bats. Santana is still a young prospect at 21 years old, but he has yet to live up to his billing as a big-time prospect.
