The Orioles agreed to terms with Romero, a 28-year-old center fielder who defected from Cuba, on Wednesday, the
Baltimore Sun's Dan Connolly reports.
ANALYSIS
Romero's calling card is his plus speed, and he is believed to have signed for a little less than $1 million. The Orioles don't necessarily have a stellar track record of signing impact hitters from Cuba, as Dariel Alvarez and Henry Urrutia both appear to be quad-A types. Romero will start in the minor leagues but it is unclear which level he will start at.
