Sanmartin (elbow) has produced a 5.40 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 3:2 K:BB in 6.2 innings over his seven relief appearances since being activated from Triple-A Louisville's 60-day injured list July 25.

Sanmartin opened the season on the shelf at Triple-A while he completed his recovery from his July 7, 2023 Tommy John surgery. Just over 12 months after surgery, he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, where he made three appearances before being added back to the Triple-A roster. Sanmartin previously made 59 appearances (six starts) at the big-league level with the Reds from 2021 through 2023 but will likely need to show better results at Triple-A before he gets another look in the majors.
