The Rockies have selected Tyler with the 38th overall pick in the 2016 first-year player draft.
ANALYSIS
Premium heat is the name of the game for Tyler, a 6-foot-4 right-hander from Georgia whose fastball typically sits in mid-to-high 90s. He complements the fastball with a decent changeup, but his spotty command remains a roadblock he’ll have to overcome if he hopes to stick in a starting role as he navigates through the minor-league system. Additionally, after missing most of his sophomore season due to a forearm strain, Tyler carries some injury risk, though he was able to make 14 starts in 2016, carrying a 4.10 ERA and an 89:46 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 74.2 innings.
