The A's have selected Szynski with the 112th overall pick in the 2016 first-year player draft.
Szynski isn't amazing at any one aspect of pitching, but the sum of the parts may be enough for him to make it as a back-end starter. He has a low-90s fastball, a solid curveball and a developing changeup, but his mechanics can get a little funky at times. His rapid-fire delivery may lend some to peg him as a future reliever whose velocity could tick up in short stints. This is an arm to follow, but not own, in most dynasty formats.
