Cochran-Gill signed a minor league contract with the Athletics that includes an invite to spring training,
CSN Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
Cochran-Gill spent the entire 2016 season at Double-A Midland, where he recorded a 3.07 ERA and 1.31 WHIP over 73.1 relief innings. The 23-year-old has yet to develop consistent control, although he did cut his walk rate to a manageable 8.1 percent last season. His ability to pitch extended stretches from the bullpen could be useful, particularly to an Oakland club that had a lofty 4.01 collective ERA in 2016.
