ANALYSIS
The Braves will shed a few high-priced players and receive Bird, infield prospect Hector Olivera, reliever Paco Rodriguez, and a 2016 competitive-balance pick for their troubles. The 21-year-old Bird isn't a premium prospect, but the 2012 ninth-round pick at least has time on his side to develop into something of an asset. He hasn't experienced a ton of success at High-A Rancho Cucamonga in the Dodgers organization this season, going 5-7 with a 4.75 ERA and 95:48 K:BB over 89 innings.
