The Wizards
announced Wednesday that Whitmore (shoulder) will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season while he begins the recovery process for a diagnosed venous condition.
ANALYSIS
Whitmore was initially shut down in late December with what the Wizards initially referred to a sore right shoulder before deep vein thrombosis was detected in the shoulder. The recovery process from venous conditions or blood clots typically lasts multiple months, so the Wizards will opt to err on the side of caution by shutting Whitmore down for the season. He'll finish his third NBA campaign with averages of 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.8 three-pointers, 0.7 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.4 blocks in 16.9 minutes per game over 21 appearances while shooting 45.6 from the field and 28.6 percent from downtown. Whitmore will be entering the final season of his rookie contract in 2026-27.
