ANALYSIS
Monk's 2023-24 season came to an early end due to an MCL sprain suffered in late March, but he still came away with a second-place finish in the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award after averaging career highs in points (15.4) and assists (5.1) in 26.0 minutes per game over 72 appearances. Even though Monk was expected to be a sought-after player in the open market, he'll instead choose to stick around with the organization with whom he's enjoyed the most success of his career after a lackluster start as a 2017 lottery pick of the Hornets. Monk and the Kings are expected to make the deal official once the league year begins July 1, and the 26-year-old guard should be back to full health for the start of training camp in the fall.
