Catches on with Green Bay
The Packers signed Tomlinson off the Cowboys' practice squad Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
A free agent throughout the offseason, Tomlinson didn't attend training camp with a team before signing with Dallas' practice squad earlier this month. The 34-year-old wasn't promoted to the Cowboys' 53-man roster but will get an opportunity with the Packers, who have an acute need for offensive-line help, particularly at guard. Tomlinson has played almost exclusively at left guard throughout his career and could immediately step in as a starter at that position if Aaron Banks (toe) is unable to play Week 4 against the Buccaneers.
