Chris Rigg: Continues to battle knock

Rigg has yet to play this preseason due to a knock and will be a close call for the first game of the season, according to manager Regis Le Bris, per Phil Smith of the Sunderland Echo. "For Patto and Riggy, it will take a bit longer. It will probably take more like ten days for them to be able to take part in full competition. By that stage, they should be back doing everything, so hopefully they will have a chance for the first game. It's possible."

Botman suffered a minor groin injury against Arsenal in a pre-season friendly, and scans confirmed the issue is not serious, with a potential return likely for the Sela Cup next week, coach Eddie Howe said in a press conference, according to Craig Hope. "We didn't think it was a serious injury & we've had that confirmed with a scan. He won't play tomorrow. He could play vs Tottenham (Sun), but possibly not. We hope he'll be available for the double header (Sela Cup on Aug 8/9)."
